Institution Registration Program Requirements

Team & Coaching Requirements

  • Institutions must assign one Coach and one Assistant Coach per team (STEM educators preferred).

  • Institutions must dedicate a minimum of 4 hours of supervised project work per week per team.

  • A minimum of 60 guided student hours per academic year is required.

  • Institutions are responsible for ensuring full team attendance at the National Competition Event (in-person or virtual).

  • Coaches are responsible for managing student attendance, project progress, safety, and overall team performance.

  • Photos and videos of the project and Smart City model (excluding student faces) may be used for official program documentation and promotion.

Technical & Facility Requirements

  • Institutions must provide a minimum of one computer (two preferred) capable of supporting block-based coding and IoT integration. Chromebooks are not permitted.

  • Stable internet connectivity is required to support IoT systems.

  • A dedicated workspace must be provided for the team.

  • Basic materials must be supplied for Smart City model development.

  • IT support must be available for device setup and network configuration.

Student Eligibility

  • Participants must be students in Grades 10–12.

  • Parent or guardian consent is required for participation.
